Description

Document the administration and interpretation of academic requirements for baccalaureate degrees, and for action on student petitions for exceptions to these requirements and other academic regulations.  

These records found in all media (paper, digital, or other) may include but are not limited to:

  • notices of academic action related to academic non-performance or deficiency, such as academic warnings, notifications of probation;
  • petitions for reinstatement and recording of decisions reached by committees deliberating these matters, including but not limited to the Scholastic Review Committee, Academic Requirements Committee or other groups charged with reviewing petitions and requests;
  • requests from programs/departments for exceptions to program requirements (for example, major, minor, other programs);
  • notifications/letters informing students of committee's actions/decisions; and,
  • related documentation. 
Retention and Disposal Instructions

(a) retain records of academic dismissal in perpetuity; 

(b) 5 years after final decision, purge.

Exception: In the event of a subpoena, audit, legal hold, public records or similar state or federal information request, halt until further instructed any scheduled disposal activities, including purging or transferring material to University Archives.
