Document receipt, storage, and disposition of personal property and physical evidence from defendants, victims, and others by the department. Information usually includes case number, tag number, date and time, property or evidence description, storage location, release date, and other data.
These records found in all media (paper, digital, or other) may include but are not limited to:
(a) 75 years for cases involving crimes with no statute of limitations, purge;
(b) 1 year after statute of limitations expires for all other cases, purge.
Exception: In the event of a subpoena, audit, legal hold, public records or similar state or federal information request, halt until further instructed any scheduled disposal activities, including purging or transferring material to University Archives.
